Answers before you install
What is the EU EmpCo directive?
The Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (EU 2024/825) tightens the rules on environmental marketing across the EU. From 27 September 2026, vague or generic claims such as “eco-friendly”, “climate neutral”, or “green” become restricted unless they are clearly substantiated. GreenClaims helps you find and fix at-risk claims in your catalog before then.
Does it work if my store isn't in English?
Yes. Detection covers English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch on every plan - “klimaneutral”, “écologique”, or “duurzaam” are flagged just like “climate neutral”. On Pro and above, GreenClaims also scans the translated versions of your products and pages (e.g. from Translate & Adapt), so the content EU customers actually read is covered too.
Does GreenClaims change my products?
No. GreenClaims requests only read_content and read_products and never writes to your store. It shows you flagged claims and drafts compliant rewrites; you decide what to change - in Shopify directly, or in bulk with BulkSheet.
What data does GreenClaims access?
Only your product and content text, via the read_content and read_products scopes. It does not access your customers, orders, or payment data.
Does it use AI, and where does my text go?
Yes. When a claim needs judging in context, the relevant product text is sent to Anthropic (Claude API) to decide whether it is a compliance risk and to draft a compliant rewrite. Only product/content text is sent - never customer, order, or payment data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How much does it cost?

Is my store tracked?
No. GreenClaims runs no third-party web analytics, no session recording, and no advertising trackers against your store data. The only external processors are Anthropic (for claim adjudication) and Amazon SES (for the alert emails you opt into). See our Privacy Policy.
Do I need a developer?
No. GreenClaims runs inside your Shopify admin with no theme edits and no code. If you can install an app, you can use it.
